Max L. Joswiak, 93, of Anderson passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital. The family received visitors from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson. A funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, also at the church with the Rev. Rodolfo "Jojo" L. Cal-Ortiz officiating. Rite of committal followed in the church cemetery. Services were under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Max was born on May 22, 1917 in Chappell Hill to Mike & Annie (Twardowski) Joswiak. He married Anna Berger on November 8, 1952 in Anderson. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he received the 3rd & 4th degrees, the Navasota VFW Post #4006, and the American Legion. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie, Steve & Johnny Joswiak; and sisters, Regina Garret & Carrie Kapchinski. Survivors include his wife; daughters & sons-in-law, Beverly & O'Brien Murphy of Houston, and Claudia & Ruben Garcia of Anderson; sister, Gertrude Bohack of Bryan; and sisters-in-law, Rosa Joswiak of Navasota, Mary Joswiak of Anderson, and Gloria Joswiak of Washington; grandchildren, Brandy & Jim Robinson of Dayton, Jarrod & Holly Murphy of Austin, and Daniel Murphy of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Charlotte and Katelyn. Serving as pallbearers were Johnny Pasket of Anderson, Joe Flores of Navasota, Sam Ruffino of Anderson, Marion Klawinsky of Richards, Charles Floyd of Plantersville, and Timothy Klawinsky of Roans Prairie.
