Bio

Jean Young, 96, born on January 22, 1928, in Weston, Texas. Passed away on March 30, 2024 in McKinney, Texas. Jean was a member of the First Christian Church in Van Alstyne, Texas. Jean married the love of her life, Floyd "Nub" on December 22, 1945. Jean was the Collin County District Clerk for 8 Years and was chief deputy for Clara Travillion for many years prior to being elected as District Clerk. Jean was a member of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel, taking many trips with Nub during their marriage of 74 years. She loved Rabbits and Butterflies. She and Nub raised nuben goats. Her love for all animals was so precious. She enjoyed a Saturday night out on the town, dancing with Nub. She loved everyone and always had a kind word for you. Her little saying was "I may have my fingers crossed when I'm telling you this." Her kindness and generosity towards people was beautiful. She was quick to share a Twix bar or a peanut butter bar with you. Nothing made her happier than a trip to Huck's Catfish in Denison or a Braum's hamburger. She loved her church family and looked forward to Sunday Church Services. We have many wonderful memories of Jean and she will remain in our hearts forever. She had a smile that could light up the room. She is proceeded in death by her Husband Floyd, parents Jesse and Pearl Carruth. Two sisters, Louise Harlow and Chris Saling. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Layman, officiating. Following the services there will be a lunch at the First Christian Church, located at 274 S. Waco St, Van Alstyne, TX 75495 everyone is invited.
