Funeral services for Louis S. Poncik, Jr., 82, of Twin Lakes in Guy, will be 2 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral home in Rosenberg with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father William D. Bartniski will officiate the services. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Louis was born January 20, 1929 in Rosenberg to Louis Sylvester and Annie Schmidt Poncik. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Louis was a member of American Legion Post 271 and V.F.W. Post 3903 and a past post commander for the American Legion in 1971, 1972 and 1973. He worked for W.K.M. for several years and retired from the Richmond State School. Louis enjoyed his meetings at the American Legion and liked to fish, hunt, garden and barbecue for his family. He passed away January 27, 2011 in Sugar Land. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Dietz Singler Poncik; parents, Louis and Annie Poncik, Sr.; sisters, Angelia Ashley and Anna Poncik Schanz; and brother, Ervin Poncik. Louis is survived by his son, Tiney Singler; brother, Freddie S. Poncik and wife, Violet; sister-in-law, Alice Ganske Poncik; brother-in-law, Richard Schanz; grandchildren, Christian Singler and Brandy Chavarria; along with other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Carl Schanz, Michael Schanz, Christian Singler, Ervin D. Poncik, Gerald Poncik, Josef Poncik, Rick Gumm and Randy Singler. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion 271. The family would like to thank the staff at S.P.J.S. T. in Needville, and the nurses and Dr.'s at Triumph Hospital Southwest in Sugar Land.
