John was the son of Joseph Crockett Vicars & Nancy Jane Honaker Vicars. He married Zura Ellen, the daughter of Elbert Frederick & Lucy Caroline Salyer Vicars, on December 19, 1900 in Scott County, Virginia. The couple were the parents of Laurel Rosetta, Roy Lee, Nannie H., Crockett Elmer and Worley Fred Vicars. •Mace Springs-(Spl)-John Wesley Vicars, 69, died at his home here Tuesday at 1 p.m. He was a farmer and livestock grower. He was born in Russell County, the son of the late Joseph C. and Nannie Honaker Vicars, pioneer families of Russell County. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Worley, Mace Springs, C.E., Hiltons, and Roy, Mendota; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Smith, Mendota, and Mrs. A.C. Salyer, Hiltons; one brother, R.C. Vicars, Farmersville, Tex.; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. •Gate City, Va.-(Spl)-Funeral services for John Wesley Vicars, who died Tuesday at his home at Maces Spring, will be held at Mount Vernon Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday.
