John Frank Vrla passed away on October 15, 2010. He was born on June 7, 1928 in Ennis, Texas to John W. and Agnes (Galetka) Vrla. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Audrey Lou Marlar, his parents and his brother, Milton Vrla of Andale, Kansas. He is survived by his sister, Olga Pechak of Dallas, Texas and numerous nieces. He served with the 5th Army Air Corp as occupational Forces in Japan. John then worked at the KWKC radio station in Abilene, Texas as a studio and transmitter engineer. After that he worked for Boeing Aircraft as an electronics inspector on the B-47. He finally worked for WFAA-TV as a Technical Director for thirty-seven years before retiring. John retired to his hometown of Ennis , Texas and pursued his favorite hobbies of raising cattle and planting in his vegetable garden which he delighted in sharing with his family and friends. He was a member of Polka Lovers Club and VFW Post #7106. His family wants to especially thank the Family First Hospice employees for their sensitivity and caring attitude during John's last illness. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 at J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis .
