Bio

An aged pioneer of Howard County passed away at his home in Paplin where he had lived many years last Friday, the funeral was held Monday from the Catholic church of that village and the body followed by many relatives and friends was laid to rest in the St. Mary's cemetery there. Rev. Bogaczyk officiating. Charles Prenczek was born in Melwin, Poland, Dec. 12, 1847, and was 79 years, 4 months and 7 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Prenczek served in the Franco-German War of 1870-71 with the German Army. He came to America with his family in 1886, settling in Chicago, where he lived for about 8 years, then coming to Nebraska and settling on a farm where he lived for some thirty years. The last few years of his life were lived at Paplin where he died. He leaves his aged wife and 8 living children and a number of grandchildren to mourn his death. The children are: Mrs. Jacob Kosmicki, Mrs. Mike Bukowski, Mrs. Walter Kosmicki, Mrs. Frank Blazey, Mrs. Steve Pilakowski and Victor Prenczek all of this vicinity; Mrs. John Rozmiarek of Sheridan Lake, Colo., and Mrs. Pete Kosmicki of Gandy, Nebr.
