Services for Alton J. Pheonix, 65, of Lufkin were held Thursday, July 25, 1991 at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Maxie officiating and burial was in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Pheonix was born Nov. 29, 1925 in Palestine, and died July 23, 1991 in Lufkin. He was retired from Pacific Motor Trucking where he had been employed for 30 years. Mr. Pheonix had lived in Lufkin since 1957. He was a member of Lufkin Missionary Baptist Chapel and he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Survivors: wife, Addie V. Pheonix of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Wayne Neal of Lufkin and Sereta and Gary Thornton of Huntington; grandchildren, Jerod Neal, Blake Thornton, Nana Neal, Julie Neal, Clay Thornton and Emily Thornton; brother, Kenneth Pheonix of Slocum; sisters, Marie Poole of Huston, Frances White of Waco and Delores Novosad of Pasadena.
