Bio

Hugh A. Welch DU 17 Jul 1942 Last Rites Held For Hugh Welch Funeral services for Hugh A. Welch, age 50, World War Veteran and merchant of this county for many years, were conducted from his home in West point on Thursday afternoon, July 9, by Rev. Elkins. Mr. Welch died at the veteran's hospital in Memphis on Tuesday, July 7, following an illness of almost one year. He was born an reared in this county and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was honored with a military funeral, the L.O. Crane Post of the American Legion assisting at the services. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Verta Noblitt Welch, West Point and three children: Mrs. Mary Jo Storey and Miss June Quillen of West Point and Thomas A. Welch, U.S. Army, Indian Gap, Pa.; two brothers, Paul J. Welch of Lawrenceburg; H.T. Welch of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. S.P. Arnett of West lake, La.; Mrs. Dalton Noblitt of Murray, Ky.
