Fort Bend Herald, May 30, 2007: Graveside services for Raymond Dirba, 82, of El Campo, formerly of Wallis and East Bernard, are at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2007, at Guardian Angel Cemetery, 2610 Demel in Wallis, with the Rev. Charles Surovik of New Covenant Fellowship officiating. A celebration of life service is at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home, 612 W. Jackson St. in El Campo. Visitation for family and friends is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Wheeler Funeral Home. Mr. Dirba passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1925, the son of Joe and Mary Kubes Dirba in East Bernard in Wharton County. He married Margaret Sliva on Nov. 4, 1947 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last year. He grew up on the family farm in Ellinger for a brief time before relocating to Wallis for 17 years where he farmed and repaired TVs, then moved to East Bernard for 16 years, before moving to El Campo in 1983. Mr. Dirba was a farmer and retired in El Campo for 22 years. He loved farming, gardening, crossword puzzles, drawing, making his own cards and poems for his wife, welding, carpenter work, making a homemade Go-Cart, old time movies, gospel music and loved his "chocolate." His last big carpenter work was the building of his last home with his daughters, Patsy, Mary, and Diane. Raymond Dirba was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Dirba; daughter, Katherine Dirba, Sept. 27, 1957; and son, Michael Dirba, Jan. 11, 1967. Mr. Dirba is survived by his wife, Margaret (Sliva) Dirba; sons: Raymond "Butch" Dirba and wife, Pat, of Fairchilds, Daniel "Donnie" Dirba of East Bernard, and Bill Dirba and wife, Janet, of East Bernard; daughters, Betty Enmon and husband, Larry, of Grapevine, Cynthia "Cindy" Lamensky and husband, Richard, of Brenham, Patricia "Patsy" Paulus and husband, Sam, of Needville, Mary Dozier and husband, Mike, of Sugar Land, and Diane Wilkerson of Eureka Springs, Ark. He also is survived by grandchildren, Natalie Enmon of Grapevine, Eric Enmon of Grapevine, Paul Dirba and wife, Angel, of Midland, Stephen Dirba and wife, Courtney, of East Bernard, Susan Dirba of Katy, Ann Dirba Sikora and husband, Matt, of East Bernard, Cassandra "Cassy" Lamensky of Los Angeles, Calif., Chelsy Lamensky of Brenham, Amanda Dirba of San Antonio, Kyle Dirba of East Bernard, Victoria and David Paulus of Needville, and Holly and Nathan Wilkerson of Eureka Springs, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Bailey Austin Dirba, Jake and Jole Covarrubio of Midland, Brooke and Andrew Dirba of East Bernard, and Emiliee Ann Sikora of East Bernard. He also is survived by sisters, Irene Svoboda and late husband, Bill, of Wallis, Elenor Matej and husband, James, of Rosenberg, Maryann Svec and husband, Syl, of Richmond, Lucille Pawlak of Austin, and Joy Jankowski and husband, Joe, of Georgetown; mother-in-law, Cecilia Macha Sliva of Fairchilds; brother-in-law, Charlie F. Sliva and wife, Ida, of Needville; and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers are grandsons, Paul Dirba, Stephen Dirba, Eric Enmon, and Kyle Dirba, nephew, August Sliva, and Matt Sikora. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, David Paulus and Nathan Wilkerson, and great-grandsons, Bailey Dirba, Jake Covarrubio, Jole Covarrubio, and Andrew Dirba. He was reared on the family farm in Ellinger for a brief time before relocating to Wallis for 17 years. In 1967, his family moved to East Bernard where they lived until 1983 when they moved to El Campo. He was a TV repairman and a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sliva Dirba of El Campo; sons, Raymond "Butch" Dirba and wife, Pat, of Fairchilds, Daniel "Donnie" Dirba of East Bernard, Bill Dirba and wife, Janet, of East Bernanrd; daughters, Betty Enmon and husband, Larry, of Grapevine, Cynthia "Cindy" Lamensky and husband, Richard, of Brenham, Patricia "Patsy" Paulus and husband, Sam, of Needville, Mary Dozier and husband, Mike, of Sugar Land, Diane Wilkerson of Eureka Springs, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Svoboda, Elenor Matej, Maryann Svec, Lucille Pawlak, and Joy Janowski.
