Elijah Hastings was born in Sussex Co, Del close to the Maryland State Line. His father was Elijah S Hastings Sr who died in 1843 Sussex co, DE. He was 93 when he died. We are thinking that his wife's name may be Mary Barnet. The only girl is named Mary Barnet Hastings (Mother or Grandmother) Elijah's mother was Elizabeth or Betty. We do not know who he married but one of his children was named two last names. Barnet Magee. Barney named one of his children with two last names Platt Hull Hastings. The Platt Hull is a grand father. So is was a custom in the family. We find them in Sussux Co in 1790/1800/1810. He moved with his family in 1815 to Monroe Twp, Pickaway Co, Ohio. There he died in 1845. There are other Hastings in the area that came from Delaware. His sister married Unknown Murphy and they also moved to Pickaway Co, Oh. Children are Elias, Barnet Magee, Elisha P, Elijah, Peter, Mary who married Jesse Outten. "Lieut. Eli Hasting volunteer Company of Light Infantry attached to 7th regiment. I also have a sheet where he was pd. When he died, I have a copy of his inventory. I have a Company muster roll for War of 1812 Private=Capt. Wm Dirickerson's Company 9th Regt Detached Delaware Militia. 1845 Sussex Co, De court records "That the said Elijah Hastings Senior, left this life at the county of Sussex on or about the tenth day of August in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three, at the advanced age of abtout one hundred years leaving to survive him no widow, and only one child living at ------ to wit;Elijah Hasting, Junior, now of Pickaway County Ohio, in the state of Ohio and is also same as hereafter mentioned." I have found that most of the Hastings in Sussex, Co, DE appear to be Methodist. I don't know about this family. Williamsport, Oh (Deercreek) Historical sign Deercreek had a methodist circuit rider deacon married in the county as early as 1798 Dr Edward Tiffin.
