Bio

Betty Jean Pryor Sutherland, age 83, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in Bridgeport. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City. Betty was born October 3, 1927 to Curg and Hattie Copelin Pryor in Archer City, Texas. She attended school at Holliday, Bittercreek, Young County, and Archer City where she graduated in 1944. She and William Cleveland "Dub" Sutherland were married on November 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1977. Survivors include three sons, Rod Sutherland and wife, Leona of Irving, Texas, Fred Sutherland of Rosharon, Texas, and Kent Sutherland and wife, Linda of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Janet Bavido and husband, James of Claremore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Duane, Adam, Matt and Nathan Sutherland, Sarah Sutherland, Rachel Long, Bonnie, Samuel, Anna, Ethan, Naomi, Joshua, Isaac, Caleb Bavido, Erica Lam, step-grandchildren, Melissa Copeland Hill, Nick and Natalie Copeland; thirteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Loftin and husband, Jack of Windthorst, Catherine McCarty, Patsy Adams and husband, James, and Yvonne Quisenberry; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Pryor all of Archer City. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Freddie, Charles and Danny Pryor and one granddaughter, Jessica Marie Bavido.
