Mrs. Starr Miller Mount Vernon - Mrs. Sarah Fallin Miller, 50, of Mount Vernon, wife of Brewton-Parker College president, Starr Miller, died Sunday night in Wheeler County Hospital after a short illness. The Millers had resided previously in Statesboro, where Miller was head of the education department at Georgia Southern College until his appointment as Brewton-Parker's president last year. Mrs. Miller was active in Georgia Baptist work. She was a former secretary at Tift College and a former education secretary at the First Baptist Church in Edgefield, S.C. She was a former state chairman for the Baptist Women of the state WMU and was active in music and youth activities at First Baptist Church of Statesboro. She was a native of Upton County. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Surviving also are a son, Charles Miller of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Steve Stokes of Athens; three sisters, Mrs. Herman Gibson and Mrs. Grady Vining, both of Thomaston, and Mrs. Charles Hardledge of Griffin; eight brothers, Wilson Fallin of Milledgeville, Moses Fallin of Macon and Harvey, Melvin, Paul, Fred, Arthur and Theo Fallin, all of Thomaston; and a grandson. Remembrances may be sent to the fine arts program at Brewton-Parker College. Funeral services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Statesboro First Baptist Church, with burial in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro. Savannah Morning News - 23 Sep 1980
