OBIT JAMES BENJAMIN CERNOCH, JR. James Benjamin Cernoch, Jr., 75, of White Plains, died May 27, 2002,at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. He was a retired U.S.Navy chief. He worked for Charles County and for John Duley and Bill Isman as a carpenter. He was active in the construction of New Life Church. He wasof the Wesleyan faith. Born April 25, 1927, in Garland, Texas, he was the son of the late James B. Cernoch, Sr. and the late Maude Jacobs Cernoch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry A. Cernoch. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Ann Wilson Cernoch of White Plains; sons, Gary W. Cernoch of Gaithersburg and James A. Cernoch of Virginia; daughter, Beth A. Cernoch of Mechanicsville; brother, John H. Cernoch of Illinois; sisters, Ruth Withrow and Winona Walker, both of Texas; grandchildren, Nicki and Jeremy Crumrime, Mathew, Larisa Amanda, Allison and Riley Cernoch; great-grandchild, Ryan Moreland; and numerous relatives. Services were held May 31, 2002, at New Life Wesleyan Church, La Plata. Rev. Mike Hilson and Rev. Aaron Rummage will officiate. Interment was in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham. Pallbearers were Paul Dixon, Bill McDonald, Gene Paddett, Kenneth and Charles Taylor, Lew Holden, Don Moreland and Chris Bryan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Wesleyan Church building fund.
