Bio

LaVerl C. (Bobe) Burns, 89, Orem, passed away peacefully on May 15, 1996 at Stonewood Manor in Orem. He was born Feb. 11, 1907 in Pleasant Grove, a son of Samuel and Agnes Baxter Burns. He married Inez Leetham on Aug. 28, 1933. The marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in August 1965. They were sweethearts for 62 years before she passed away last November. Bobe attended school " in Pleasant Grove, then went into the trucking business with his father hauling produce from California to many of the area merchants. He served in World War II and was stationed in Germany. He and Inez moved to Glendale, Calif., where Bobe worked for Lockheed Aircraft until he retired. He then returned to Orem and has lived there until his death. Bobe is survived by his sister, Mrs. Paul (Marie) Jones, Pleasant Grove; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his brother, Clyde, and sisters: Hyacinth, Margaret and Mary, and his parents. Bobe loved to sing and always entertained those around him with his Scottish humor, poems and songs. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kathryn and Helen and all others at Stonewood Manor in Orem for the loving care they gave to Uncle Bobe the past few months. Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, in the Orem Lakeridge 6th Ward. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military honors provided by District Four of the V.F.W.
