PLAINVIEW - A.C. Leonard, 82, formerly of Dumas died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. A.C. was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Goodlett to Sol and Ora Leonard. He married Reba Boswell on Sept. 3, 1948, in Dumas. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2004. A.C. was a hard worker. He was employed at the smelter plant in Dumas for 25 years. He moved to Plainview in 1972, and was a resident for 38 years. He worked for Occidental and Zip Fertilizer until his retirement. A.C. loved to ride motorcycles. One of his greatest joys was riding at the Canadian River with his sons-in-law and grandkids. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing with his family. They were his life. He was a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, everyone listened. He was a Christian and a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church in Plainview. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Henry and husband Farrell of Dumas and Cathy Myers and husband David of Plainview; a sister, Valine Ballard of Dumas; and numerous other family members.
