Bio

Delano "Butch" Lavicky born March 12,1938 in Bee, NE, was taken home Tuesday, January 11, 2011. He graduated from Seward High School in 1956 and married his wife Maria (Fernandez) Lavicky on February 14, 1971. They started their home in Bee, NE and later settled on a farm outside David City, NE and raised their family. He served in the US Army for four years as a trainer. After his time in the Army, Butch spent the majority of his life farming and was employed with David City School as a school bus driver. Butch loved the school children he drove on the bus. He looked forward to seeing them each day and occasionally had a candy or two for them. He enjoyed family, friends, fishing and his favorite pasttime, racing. He expressed pride in his sons' accomplishments and adored his grandson's very much. Family or friend there was no difference to Butch. He greeted everyone with a smile and friendship that was genuine. He never let on of his own pains or struggles and kept his smile showing for all to see. He stood as a solid foundation for his family and fulfilled many roles. He was a devoted husband and partner to wife, Maria; role model, mentor and friend to his sons, Joel and Chris. He welcomed his daughters-in-laws, Julie and Resa, with love and gentle arms. For his grandsons, James, Matthew and Calvin, he created memories that will last in their hearts forever and created a legacy for them to follow. Butch had many friends who are considered family; enjoying visits, fishing trips, smiles and laughs with them all. With hearts full of sorrow, we say good-bye to you for now, Papa Butch. We will see you again. With all our love, you will live in us forever, your family and friends. Butch is survived by his wife Maria of David City; two sons and daughters-in-laws Joel and Julie Lavicky of Lincoln, Chris and Resa Lavicky of Bee; three grandsons James, Matthew and Calvin Lavicky; sister-in-law Gloria Lavicky of Staplehurst;and Aunt Eleanor Jelinek of Seward. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Jelinek) Lavicky; Uncle Adolph "Murph" Jelinek; mother and father-in-laws Julio and Mildred (Barcel) Fernandez; brother, Ronald Lavicky.
