Billy Jack "Poo Paw" Landers, 65, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Quanah Memorial Park in Quanah with Glendell Smith, chaplain of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Landers was born and raised in Quanah. He married Barbara Jowers on June 3, 1960. In 1971, they moved to Boys Ranch, where they were house parents for four years. From 1975 to 1997, he was custodial administrator at Boys Ranch before moving to Amarillo. From 1998 to present, he was employed at Puckett Place Apartments as service supervisor. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Steven Shannon and wife, Sherie, of Dumas, Chris Alex Landers and wife, Alecia, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mark Lewyn Landers and wife, Shea, and James Kent Landers and wife, Peggy, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Horace Kent Landers and James Walter Landers Jr., both of Borger; two sisters, Doris Ferguson and Jo Purcell, both of Borger; his mother-in-law, Dora Jowers of Quanah; five granddaughters; and five grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to Olivia's Angels, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105-9975. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home in Amarillo. The body will be available for viewing from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to noon Monday at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 24, 2004
