Published in the Athens Review July 15, 1926 Zell Butler, who conducts a barber shop at Murchison and who at one time followed his trade in this city, dropped dead at Edgewood Monday afternoon while umpiring a ball game between Edgewood and Murchison. Butler was umpiring the bases and had just called a runner out in the first inning when he suddenly sank to the ground and immediately expired. He had complained of feeling ill when asked to umpire. Doctors were summoned and attributed his death to a leakage of the heart. Butler was about 35 years of age. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
