Bio
Bruce Wright was born March 12, 1928, to Gertrude and Grady Wright of Anadarko, OK. His mother, Gertrude, married Paul DeBoard in 1936 and Paul raised Bruce as a son. Bruce attended school in Verden and graduated from the 1946 Verden class. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan and Korea during the occupation that occurred after WWII. He attended college at OSU for two years. He then returned to Verden and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Novy, in 1950. They moved to Duncan, OK., where he worked for Halliburton Services. He and Mary had two daughters, Kathy and Terry. His job took him to several towns in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He retired from Halliburton in 1983 in Seminole, OK. Bruce returned to Verden after the death of his wife, Mary, that same year. He worked in Verden part-time as a rural route carrier for the U.S. Post Office and was a bus driver for the Verden public schools. He also served on the Verden Town Council and was a member of the Verden Historical Society. Bruce passed away in Verden, May 28, 1993.
