Lola Belle Ballard (1928-2011) Funeral services for Lola Belle Ballard, age 82, of Dodd City, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bill Ledbetter will officiate. Burial will follow at Dodd City Cemetery. Mrs. Ballard passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at Four Seasons Nursing Center in Durant, Okla. Mrs. Ballard was born Feb. 27, 1928 in Bryan County, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Washington Watterson and Nettie Tucker Watterson. She married Orvil Pruitt Ballard on March 18, 1950 in Durant, Okla. and he preceded her in death June 2, 1996. She was a homemaker and loved flowers, reading, listening to the radio and crocheting. Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Pentecostal church and enjoyed visiting by phone with her neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William Watterson; and her brothers, Troy, Roy, Cleo, Leo and Tom Watterson. She is survived by sons, David Ballard (Donna) of Calera, Okla., Glen "Bo" Ballard (Gloria) of Dodd City; daughters, Kathy Thompson (Roy) of Calera, Okla., Ann Hullum (Philip) of Caddo, Okla.; sister, Opal Thompson of Durant, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Pat Watterson of Broken Bow, Okla.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Relay For Life .
