Published in the Athens Review December 26,1946 Mrs. Laura Walker, native of Athens, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D.D. Fitzgerald, in Enid, Oklahoma. The body was brought to Athens and lay in state at the Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home chapel until 10 o'clock Sunday morning, when graveside services were held at the City Cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. Clyde Nichols. Pallbearers were Newbern Stirman, Winfield Stirman, Shug Stirman, Fon Taylor, Ben F. Taylor, and Albert Reierson. Mrs. Walker was born in Athens on October 13, 1869, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mallard Davis of Athens, and resided here until 20 years ago when she went to Enid to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. Walker, the youngest of nine children, was married to an Athens business man, Samuel Walker, who died 35 years ago. Three children also preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Fitzgerald, and two sisters, Mrs. George R. Davis of Athens and Mrs. Lou Wylie of Palestine.
