Mrs. Davis was born on April 22, 1862, at Chandler, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mallard Davis, pioneer residents of the county, and was married to George R. Davis in this county when she was fifteen years of age. Mr. Davis, who was a county commissioner for several years, died on January 1, 1931, and was buried in the City Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Athens and was active in church work on her younger years. She was a sister-in-law of W. J. Davis of Walton, who died last Saturday. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Lou Wylie of Palestine, and many nieces and nephews. [The Athens Review; March, 1948; transcribed by Jimmy Davis]
