Alice was originally buried in Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City, Nebraska (top gravestone photo). Later, after the death of Ralph Slobaszewski, she was re-interred in Elmwood Cemetery at Saint Paul, Nebraska (bottom gravestone photo).
Alice M. Slobaszewski, 85, of Ashton died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Alice was born May 24, 1925, in Sherman County to Tony and Martha (Lewandowski) Stenka. Survivors are: husband, Ralph, of Ashton; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Eddy Krzycki of Ashton; grandchildren and spouses, Kenneth and Janelle Krzycki, Kevin and Ann Krzycki and Lisa and Jim Pappas; and eight great-grandchildren, Brady and Ethan Krzycki, Kyle, Kolby and Kinley Krzycki and Keyton, Emerson and Greyson Pappas. Alice grew up near Ashton and attended the Schaupps school through the 8th grade. On Aug. 16, 1944, she married Don Hughes and one daughter, Sharon, was born to this union. On Oct. 28, 1957, Don passed away. She then married Ralph Slobaszewski on Dec. 28, 1959. She and Ralph farmed near Ashton until she moved to assisted living at Rose Lane in Loup City in July 2010. In December she entered Rose Lane Home. Alice loved to garden, especially growing roses and violets. She also decorated cakes and loved her chickens and dog, Misty. She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Don. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.
