Bio

Dave Jones is my father. He started playing the trumpet about the time he entered junior high school. He played in the band at Pacific High School, in San Bernardino, CA, in the mid-1950's. In 1958 my father married 1st (my mother) Carolyn Webster 18 Oct. 1958, in San Bernardino, CA, 2nd Judy LeBeau 22 Jan 1972, in Las Vegas, NV and 3rd Joyce Ward 11 Dec. 1976, in Las Vegas, NV. His children with Carolyn are (myself) Dean Allen, Cindy Lee and Cheryl Lynn Jones. He had no children with Judy and with Joyce he had children; Jason Collin, David Ward & Michael Scott Jones. My father served in the Navy from 1957-67, as a radar technician on destroyer USS Wedderburn 1957-60 and landing ships USS Tom Green County & USS Vancouver 1960-67. USS Vancouver (along with two other ships) landed the first U.S. Marines in Da Nang, South Vietnam in 1964 and took part in multiple combat missions during the Vietnam War. After the Navy, Dave worked in the audio department at Knott's Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA and helped wire the Log Ride for sound during it's construction in 1969. In the early 1980's he was executive director at Vocational Skills Academy in Mira Loma, CA and at the time of his passing, he had been working for several years in the audio department at the Las Vegas Convention Center. My father was very intelligent, had a great sense of humor and he dearly loved his family and spending time with them. After his family, his favorite pastime was listening to music and his musical tastes ranged widely. He loved everything from jazz to rock/pop to country to southern gospel and even classical on occasion, but I'm sure jazz was always his favorite. Sadly, my father left us at a young age, but the time we had together produced some of the best memories of my life. I am so very fortunate for having known him and for learning so much from him. He is always dearly missed and loved by his family and friends, but as the song goes, "We'll be together again." Dean
