Rita Eckhout, 35, of Omaha died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in Omaha. Rita was born Dec. 4, 1975, in Kearney to John and Eva (Linden) Eckhout. Survivors include her son, Hunter of Amherst; her mother of Amherst; brothers, Byron Eckhout and his wife, Inett, of Kearney and Nathan Eckhout of Litchfield; and sister, Tara Urwiller of Amherst. Rita was educated in Amherst and graduated from Amherst High School in 1994. In high school, she was active in cheerleading and pep club. She was the homecoming queen and active in high school sports. Rita attended cosmetology school and was employed by the House of Barbers in Kearney before moving to Omaha where she worked as a dental assistant. Rita was preceded in death by her father.
