Marlow: Dovie Mae Pelley, 90, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 in Duncan. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Denton Baptist Church, with Rev. Joe Price and Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Dovie was born Tuesday, January 20, 1920 in Rush Springs, to Lonnie L. Loyd and Eula Mae (Norton) Loyd. Dovie lived in the Rush Springs area most of her life and attended Stover School. She married Johnnie Franklin Pelley on August 24, 1936 in Rush Springs. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2007. Dovie was a homemaker and farmer. She enjoyed needlework, crocheting and quilting. She loved to cook, her homemade rolls were a family favorite. Dovie was a member of the Denton Baptist Church. Survivors include, son, Earnest (Shorty) Pelley of Marlow, daughter, Ora Mae (Janie) Hampton and husband David of Marlow, 10 grandchildren, numerous great and great, great grandchildren, two sisters, Minnie Wilhite of Rush Springs, Dorothy Thornton of Trinity, TX, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dovie was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Johnnie Wayne Pelley, Chester Pelley, daughter, Eula Faye Bratcher, five brothers, Leslie Loyd, Merle Loyd, Melvin (Pete) Loyd, Dean Loyd, Charley Loyd. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Darryl Pelley, Johnny Pelley, Russell Doughty, Jimmy Doughty, Terry Doughty, Davey Hampton, Richard Bratcher. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to Denton Baptist Church.
