Anna M. Ziola died December 16th at Elba. She was 88 years old. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Elba, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Ryan officiated with Mrs. Victor Dush singing "Prayer of St. Francis", "Mother Dear, Pray for Me", "Ave Marie", and "On Eagle's Wings". Mrs. Randie Lassen was at the organ. Dave Ziola was Lector and altar boys were Tim Ziola and Chris Ziola. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery at Elba. Casketbearers were Bernard Fletcher, Mike Fletcher, John Fletcher, Dave Ziola, Andrew Ziola and Aaron Ziola. Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul was in charge of arrangements. Anna M. Ziola, daughter of John and Michalena Spotanski Turek, was born March 23, 1902 near Ashton, Nebraska. She departed from this life on December 16, 1990 at Elba, Nebraska at the age of 88 years. She received her education in nearby rural school and grew to womanhood on the family farm near Ashton. On November 3, 1921, she was united in marriage to Stanley P. Ziola at Ashton. The couple first made their home on a farm north of Elba until 1942. They then moved into Elba where the couple had purchased the hardware store. The couple operated the store until their retirement in 1960. Mr. Ziola passed away in April of 1971. Mrs. Ziola continued to make her home in Elba. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Altar Society of Elba. She is survived by her daughter Mrs. S. W. (Tillie) Fletcher of Bennington; two sons, James of Fremont, California and Richard of Omaha; two step-sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Webb of Bloomfield, Nebraska and Mrs. Julia Spotanski of Grand Island; two brothers, Steve Turek of Ashton and Floyd Turek of Gibbon; one half-brother, Raymond Turek of Orange, California; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; grandson, Charles P. Fletcher; and two brothers, Benedict and Joe Turek.
