Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska Electrocution East of Ord – Eugene Turek Leaves Four Children Funeral services for Eugene Turek, 32 year old Consumers Public Power lineman who was killed Thursday east of Ord, were held Monday at St. Josaphat's Church, Loup City. Rev. Constantine Schumski officiating. Burial was in St. Josaphat's Cemetery. Turek, the father of four children, was electrocuted on a power pole while hooking up an electric grain dryer on the Leroy Noll farm a mile and a half east of Ord. The accident occurred in mid-afternoon Thursday, Turek and Leo Heineman, also of Loup City, were mounted on a pole making connections to a dead transformer above which runs a 6,600-volt line. The high-voltage line was hot and apparently Turek stepped up into it, catching his shoulder on the middle phase. Heineman applied pole-top resuscitation and the injured lineman came around. When taken to the ground, however, he succumbed. Contributor: Kathy Burgess Burr (47226369)
