Bio

Mrs. Eliza Ellen Pitts passed away at her home Wednesday afternoon, April 14, 1937, following a week's sickness of bronchial pneumonia, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 3 days. Eliza Ellen Fine was united in marriage July 30, 1873, to John Reynold Pitts at Linden, Wisconsin. In 1869, they came to Cherokee County and homesteaded. They drove through in a covered wagon. To this union nine children were born. Four died in infancy. Her husband, John Reynold Pitts preceded her in death twelve years ago and Thomas, a son, died in 1918. She leaves to mourn her death William G. Pitts, of Cherokee, John F. Pitts of Le Mars, Mrs. SImon Zembsch of Cherokee, and Mrs. Paul Durr of Le Mars. There are also twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Pitts was a member of the W.R.C. The funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev.
