Mary Lou died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Mary Lou Shemek was born January 5, 1930 in Cornlea, Nebraska to Thomas and Anna (Barnas) Molczyk. She graduated from Albion High School in 1948. Mary Lou married Clarence Shemek on January 17, 1950 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion. The couple lived and farmed on the family farm near Tarnov until 1989 when they moved to Columbus. She was a member of St. Isidore Church and the Christian Mothers. Mary Lou enjoyed being on the farm, gardening and visiting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by: Husband: Clarence Shemek of Columbus, NE Son: Tom (Kathy) Shemek of Columbus, NE Daughter: Rita (Terry) Huettner of Humphrey, NE Son: Bob (Adrienne) Shemek of Platte Center, NE Sister: Rose (Paul) Braun of Columbus, NE Sister: Anita (Raymond) Ksiazek of Fremont, NE Brother: Thomas (Jan) Molzcyk of Columbus, NE Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren: Melissa Shemek of New York City, NY; Dr. Angela Shemek DMV of Omaha, NE; Jeff (Marie) Huettner and their children Brandon and Kim of Humphrey, NE; Lisa Huettner of Lincoln, NE; Anne (Eric) Rineer and their children Erin and Hailee of Lincoln, NE; Scott Huettner and special friend Amber Finkral of Humphrey, NE She was preceded in death by: Parents: Thomas and Anna Molczyk Memorials may be directed to the St. Isidore Stained Glass Fund.
