Nina Merle was the daughter of Samuel Hoyte Walkup and Sallie Grace Crabtree. Siblings were Leona Evelyn and Houston Cleve Walkup. Nina Merle graduated Kirkland High School in 1939. and spent her adult life as a school teacher.
