wife of John Whelchel The Macomb Journal, page 4 Thursday, May 27, 1897 Mrs. Sarah Whelchel. The above named died at her late home, one and one-half miles west of Tennessee, last week of paralysis, aged 72 years, 3 months and 15 days. She had been a sufferer for nine years from this disease. The interment was in Argyle cemetery. Deceased was the wife of John Whelchel, who died some nine years ago. They were the parents of 14 children, 11 of whom are living to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She has been a member of the Baptist church for 38 years and has always been a true and consistant [sic] christian.
