Beulah Leota Smith: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Oregonian, The (Portland, OR) - May 18, 2000 Deceased Name: Beulah Leota Smith A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2000, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Beulah Leota Smith, who died May 16 at age 96. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 30, 1904, in Elgin. Her maiden name was Thompson. She moved to Portland in 1925 and was a homemaker and worked in the shipyards during World War II. She was a member of Mallory Avenue Christian Church and past president of the State Christian Women's Fellowship. In 1924, she married Clarence Smith; he died in 1978. Survivors include four nieces and two nephews. Her daughter, Mary Ruth, died in 1929. Private interment will be in River View Cemetery.
