Bio

Son of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Hartlage. Husband of 1st) Bertha Blanche Hardesty and 2nd) Janie (Hollis) Lee. The following obituary was published in the Herald Coaster on August 13, 1959: "August Hartlage" Funeral services were held for August Hartlage, 78, of Rosenberg, on Sunday, August 9, in the Calvary Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Mr. Hartlage is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janie Hartlage, one sister, Mrs. Lena Talley of Rosenberg, and one step-son, James Hollis Lee of Port Arthur and four grandchildren. Mr. Hartlage, a well-known farmer, came to Fort Bend County in 1894 from Burton. Pallbearers were Harry Bernshausen, Noel Yarling, Grady Lacy, Lester Nolte, J. T. Burch, Eddie Ustyntk, and Tom Gilbreath. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. H. L. McLerran, Rev. Jay Puckett, and Rev. Vernon Wheeless officiating under the direction of Garmany-Janca Funeral Home. * * *
