Obituary from unknown newspaper. C. T. Wallace dies after long illness Claude Toliver (C. T.) Wallace, 79, of 218 Ladiga St died Sunday night at 8 o'clock at Piedmont Hospital, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from First Baptist Church, the Rev. J. Holland Thomas officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens, Gray Brown-Service directing. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Pluma Wallace of Piedmont; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Naugher, of Piedmont; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Joe L. Hayes of Ohatchee; four brothers, W. H., Joe E. and G. W. Wallace, all of Piedmont; and Abe H. Wallace of Gadsden. Active pallbearers were Woodrow Wallace, Alvin Wallace, Arlin Wallace, J. T. Wallace, L. T. Morgan and Damon McAlister. The Masons were honorary pallbearers. Mr. Wallace, a native of this area, had resided all his life here and until overtaken by failing health, had been active in the industrial, business and civic affairs. He was a director of Farmers & Merchants Bank, which he helped to organize many years ago; and a former member of Piedmont city council, with 16 years service. For many years he was engaged in the saw mill and lumber business here before selling out about 15 years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and had been a Mason for many years, and was a member of Lobahatchee [Lozahatchee] Lodge No. 97.
