Bio
Services for Johnnie Johnson Applewhite, 89, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Woolf and Rev. Steve Cowart officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Mrs. Applewhite was born April 16, 1906, in Huntington, Texas; and she died on Saturday, February 17, 1996, in a Lufkin nursing home. Mrs. Applewhite was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the O'Quinn Baptist Church at Central and had lived in Lufkin and Angelina County all her life. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Glenn Scott, Ruth and Charles Cowart, and Shirley and Dalton Woolf; sisters, Addie Forrest and Georgia Barte; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and special children, Shawn Farrell, Kelli Ferrell Williams; Angie Kaemmerling and Sharon Grisham. Mrs. Applewhite was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Applewhite in 1965. Pallbearers will be Mike Forrest, Ray Lenderman, Dwight Ruggles, Thomas Wehmeyer, Basil Sims and Shawn Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Johnson, David Kaemmerling, James Farrell, R. C. Forrest, Mike Hudiburgh, R. D. Gibson and Gary Forrest.
