Obit Big Country Loyd Badgwell ANSON-Loyd T. Badgwell, 60, of Fort Worth died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas following a long illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. P.B. Middlebrook will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. He was born January 19, 1920 in Chico and moved with his parents to Wichita Falls at an early age. They moved to Fort Worth around 1940. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1940 as a member of the Texas National Guard and was attached to the Second Battalion of the 131st Field Artillery in the Guadalcanal war zone. His entire battalion was captured there and was later to become famous as the "Lost Battalion." He was liberated in 1945 and reinlisted in Army Air Corps, where he served an additional six years. He married Opal Vaughn in 1947 and the couple resided in Fort Worth, where Mr. Badgwell was engaged as a painting contractor. His wife preceded him in death in 1976. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rick(Dianna) Lewellen of Spring, a stepson, Bill Tyler of Tulsa, Okla.; his mother, Mrs. Ada Spivey of Fort Worth; and one grandchild.
