Funeral services for Kenneth J. Diederich, 77, of East Moline, are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. today at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, where he was a member. Ken died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Kenneth was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Lindsay, Neb., the son of Joseph and Helen Kurtenbach Diederich. He married Lois Moeller on Dec. 23, 1974, in Aledo. She died Jan. 11, 1994. Kenny retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, as a crane operator. He was a member of the East Moline American Legion, VFW and Eagles Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include sisters, Gerry VanderBeke, East Moline, and Adeline Bierman, Dearborn, Mich.; brothers, Gene Diederich, Carbon Cliff, and Joe Diederich, Indianapolis, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. (Rock Island Argus, Aug. 23, 2008)
