In 2021 Alex's great granddaughter and great grandson placed a stone on his grave.
Alexander "Alex" Laudenklos was born to his loving parents Adam and Marian "Mary Anna" (Leuz) Laudenklos on October 10, 1864 in the country of Switzerland. I found the spelling of Alex's last name on his death certificate to be Lautenklos, his family believes this to be wrong. This could possibly be due to spelling of families' names changing over the years or it could be just a typo. I also found he may have used "Ely" as a first name too. Alex's father Adam was born in Switzerland, he was united in marriage to Marian "Mary Anna" Leuz in Switzerland, he then immigrated to America around 1874, he was never heard from again. Alex's mother Mary Ann immigrated to America with her three sons which included Alex in 1880 or 1881 and probably first settled in the Providence Rhode Island area. Alex was united in marriage to Caroline "Lena" Schutt on Tuesday November 10, 1885, they were blessed with a daughter and two sons over the years of their marriage. It appears his brother Albert remained in Rhode Island while Alex's family, Adolph's family, and their mother moved to Nebraska. The Laudenklos' lived in Stewart Township, Gresham Village, and York County Nebraska. Alex's family lived in Octavia, Gresham, and Butler County Nebraska. In 1900 Alex's mother lived with Alex's family and was listed as a widow. Between the years of 1900 to 1904 Alex alone boarded a train from Franklin to Omaha, Alex's family lost track of him after that point. Records now found show Alex lived in Woonsocket Rhode Island in 1905 and was a blacksmith. The 1910 Census lists Alex's occupation again as a blacksmith. In 1927 records showed Alex continued to live in Woonsocket and was listed as a helper. Alex on Tuesday August 7, 1928 was admitted to the Almshouse since his finances were in destitute. Sadly Alex passed on Wednesday October 31, 1928 at 4:40a at Cranston, Providence County Rhode Island of Myocardial Degeneration at the age of 64 years, 21 days which does not include him last day, he lived a total of 23,396 days. Alex's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Alex by Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
