EDITH SNOWDEN: 1911-1986 Edith May SNOWDEN, 74, passed away at her home in Steamboat Springs Wednesday, February 05, 1986, following a long battle against cancer. Services, conducted by Pastor Dewayne Davis, were held at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Springs. Interment was in the Steamboat Springs Cemetery. Romaine Mahaffey, accompanied by Norma Sallers, sang Whispering Hope, Just a Closer Walk with Thee and Faith is the Victor. Pallbearers were grandsons Bill, Rod, Bob, Ron, Russ and Chris SNOWDEN, Bill GREEN and Lawrence ROBERTS. The daughter of Lev and Lilly WORKMAN, Edith was born in Arcadia, Nebraska, August 24, 1911. At the age of three, she came by covered wagon with her parents and brother Lloyd to Colorado. She married Leslie SNOWDEN at Fort Morgan September 15, 1928. She was active in the Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, Bible camp cook, counselor and church clerk. She served on the election board, as 4-H leader and was a member of the Home Arts Extension Club for 46 years. She leaves her widower; one brother, Clyde "Skeet" WORKMAN of Napa, California; one sister, Elsie HENRY of Loveland; three sons, Leonard of Yampa, Leo and Lawrence, both of Steamboat Springs; eight granchildren, Bill SNOWDEN of Springs, Texas, Bob SNOWDEN of Grand Junction, Chris SNOWDEN of Dallas, Rod SNOWDEN of Craig, Ron SNOWDEN of Craig, Russ SNOWDEN of Steamboat Springs, Ramona GREEN of Craig and Jolene ROBERTS of Phoenix, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Karlie Joe and Leslie SNOWDEN of Spring, Texas, Chad and Lacey GREEN of Craig. Preceding her in death were one daughter, Leota Louise, and one brother, Lloyd WORKMAN. (Published in The Steamboat Pilot (Steamboat Springs, CO), Thursday, February 13, 1986.)
