Bio

Frank G. Kuemmel, age 78, died on Sunday, November 8, 1998 at his home. He was born on June 1, 1920 in Milwaukee, WI and was the son of Mary (Gehl) and Frank Kuemmel. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as special agent in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps. He met the joy of his life in Washington, DC and they married in Mapleton, IA on May 6, 1943. He retired from American Family Insurance in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion Post #333. Survivors include his wife, Joy (Schleis) Kuemmel; four daughters, Marilyn (Vernon) Yelk of Marshall, Joan McCarthy of Sun Prairie, Linda Schoenemann of Port Washington, and Karen (James) Keller of Sun Prairie; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (J. R.) Collentine of Whitefish Bay and Margaret Schnese of Appleton; and one brother, James Kuemmel of Orlando, FL; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Walker of New Hampshire. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 1998 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. with Father Duane Moellenberndt officiating. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 1998 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. The family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund. The family would like to thank Judy for her wonderful care of Frank; Home Health United, especially Terry and Sherri; Sister Anne Raymond; and Doctors Paul Schmidt and Bill Russell. WSJ 11/9/1998
