Joy A. Kuemmel, age 91, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on Jan. 3, 1921, in Sioux City, IA. She was the daughter of George and Katherine (Christensen) Schleis. She married Frank Kuemmel on May 6, 1943, in Mapleton, IA. She is survived by her four daughters, Marilyn (Vernon) Yelk of Marshall, Joan McCarthy of Sun Prairie, Linda Anderson of Port Washington and Karen Kuemmel of Sun Prairie; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Rock) Meinholz, Sam (Tari) Yelk, Linus Yelk, Robert McCarthy, Michelle Klessig, Carrie (Corey) Knautz, Chris Schoenemann, Nicole (Luke) Wagner, Jennifer (Andrew) Aslesen and Kristin Keller; two step-grandchildren, Darcy Anderson and Marnie (Larry) Trainor; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents; and a son-in- law, Neil Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Monsignor DuaneMoellenberndt will preside. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m at the TUSCHEN-NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie on Thursday.
