Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 22nd at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Peter W. Cashman, age 78, of St. Cloud, who died on Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Tony Oelrich will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday between 4:00-8:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Eastside VFW Post 4847 will pray at 6:00 PM followed by the Parish Prayers at 7:00 PM. Peter was born June 21st, 1932 in St. Cloud to Daniel and Blanche (Smith) Cashman. He married Betty Carr on June 13th, 1959 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD. Peter served in the US Navy from 1952-1956 during which time he saw action in the Korean War and served for 30 years in the US Naval Reserves. He retired from military service in 1985. Peter lived all of his married life in St. Cloud. He was employed as a senior technician for MnDot for 42 years. Peter retired in 1992. He was a member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Men's Group, East Side Boosters, Knights of Columbus Council # 961, Naval Reservists, Navy Fleet Reserves, and the Enlisted Men's Retired Assn. He was a lifetime member of East Side VFW Post 4847. Peter enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling with Betty and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He never missed one of his grandchildren's many activities. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty, children, William J. Cashman (Cherolyn) St. Cloud, Daniel J. Cashman (Laura) Indian Hills, Colorado, Ann Herold (Dennis) St. Cloud, and 9 grandchildren, Stephanie, Calvin, and Micaila Herold; Patrick, Katlyn, and Aidan Cashman; and Taylor, Jordan, and Hailey Lothert Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel "Marty" Cashman, and daughter in law, Tammy (Smith) Cashman.
