Obituary: Ira Bristow Published: Longview News Journal November 12, 2010 Ira Bristow, age 89, of Tyler, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Ira was born on May 23, 1921, in LaRue, Texas, to George and Florence Nichodemus Bristow. On March 23, 1946, Ira married Martha Smith in Athens, Texas. Ira served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an Assembly of God pastor and retired from LeTourneau Industries as a welder. Ira is survived by his son, Glenn Bristow and his wife Peggy of Longview; daughters, Martha Pope and Mike Bailey of Van and Sharon Folmar and husband Jimmy of Longview; grandsons, Jason Folmar and his wife Lorrie of Fort Richardson, Alaska, Joseph Folmar of Fort Carson, Colorado, and Michael Pope of Flint, Texas; granddaughter, Shannon Lindsay and husband Joey of Longview; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Bertha Fitzgerald of Athens, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith Bristow; three brothers, Bruce Bristow, Robert Bristow, and Jimmy Bristow; and three sisters, Ethel Coleman, Mae Quick, and Ann Malone. Graveside services for Ira will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. G.H. Stanfield officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, November 12, 2010, at Lakeview Funeral Home. Special thanks to Legacy Hospice and Hospice of East Texas.
