Bio

Barbara died in Nebraska and was buried somewhere on the farm, the exact location unknown. Family lore has it that a possible location is the very north-east corner of the property next to the road. The surname Vondrussen is taken from the marriage record for John and Anna (Zima) Shorney. It is spelled as it looked, however, it may have been Vondracek as the Vondrussen does not appear to be a Czech or Bohemian name. Barbara Shorni is listed on the mortality schedule of the 1880 census. According to the census she was a widow, born in Bohemia, had lived in Butler County for 10 years, and died in Linwood precinct from paralysis in May 1880 at the age of 60 years. At the time of death she was living with her son Josef and his family.
