John came to America from Bohemia in 1869 with his family The Shorney/Shorni family came from Kocov, Tabor, Bohemia to America. I show their son John/Jan was born in about 1857 at Mladi Vozice,Tabor, Bohemia. They were married probably in the same area. US Passenger List - Port of New York arrived 13 July 1869; origins Bohemia, Czechoslovakia; came on the "Deutschland", point of departure Bremen, GermanyNational Archives Micropublication M237 Reel 315 Johann Shorny, 53, workman,b. Bohemia Barbara, 49, b. Bohemia Joseph, 28, b. Bohemia Franciska, 18, b. Bohemia Johann (male), 12, b. Bohemia Franz, 8, b. Bohemia Franziska, 6, b. Bohemia The family went from Omaha to Abie in a covered wagon and first lived in a dugout on the family farm. He and his family are in the 1870 Butler County, Nebraska census in the Skull Creek Precinct, PO Milford (?), taken 9 August 1870 (page 31), living in the household of Fred Johnson of the same precinct.
