Bio
Sarah Elizabeth Pea Vaughn was born near Sullivan, Illinois, May 13, 1852, and departed this life February 13, 1929 at 10:45 p.m. at the age of 76 years and 9 months. When a small child she moved with her parents to Missouri where she grew to womanhood. In 1870 she was married to Aca Humphrey, who preceded her in death. To this union two children were born: Mrs Amanda Clugston of Chateau, Oklahoma and Mrs Nora Wheeler, of Gridley, Kansas. In the year of 1877 she was united in marriage to Sanford P. Vaughn who preceded her in death, March 7, 1922. To this union four children were born: Mintie McCoach, Nettie Hadsall, and Elmer Vaughn of Osawatomie: and Willie Vaughn who preceded his mother in death July 3,1911. There are also surviving her twenty-four grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, five brothers, and two sisters, besides a number of other relatives, and a host of sympathizing friends. Mrs. Vaughn moved to Osawatomie in 1910 and shortly afterwards united with the Pilgrim Holiness Church, and since that time remained a faithful worker. She leaves many friends and neighbors who will sadly miss those kind words, loving smiles and good deeds. They extend to the sorrowing children their heartfelt sympathy. The funeral was held on Saturday February 16th, at 2:30 p.m. from the Christian Church with Rev. D. L. Mc Cracken officiating. Interment was in the Elmdale Cemetery
