MRS. COLETTA MARY (O'NEILL) CARTER, 76, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2004. Mrs. Carter was born on September 15, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John Hickey and Adeline (Mantel) O'Neill. She graduated from Villa Angela Catholic High School in Cleveland and spent her life as a wife and mother. She married her late husband, Mark William Carter, of Washington, KS, on July 31, 1954 and celebrated 43 years of marriage before his death. She spent her adult life in Olathe, KS, Delavan, WI, and finally in Winston-Salem, NC. She will be lovingly missed by her children, their spouses, and 17 grandchildren: Mary, Craig, Timothy and Daniel Waren, Cooper City, FL; Joseph and Dora Phillips Carter, Bailey, NC; Stephen, Judith, Emma, Elizabeth, and Catherine Carter, Davidson, NC; Monica, Keith, and Rachel Adams, Winston-Salem, NC; Michael, Nancy, Haley, Ryan, and Harrison Carter, Fox Point, WI; Gerard, Eileen, Molly, and Charlotte Carter, Winston-Salem, NC; Martin, Deborah, Patricia, Jennifer, Christopher, James, and Alyse Carter, Shreveport, LA; and, Ruth, Frederick, and Colette Pappas, Raleigh, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband and her daughter Philomena Marie Carter. Coletta is also fondly remembered by her brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. Internment will take place immediately after Mass at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to your favorite charity in her name.
