Mrs. Ervin (Lydia) Hoeldtke, 92, of West, formerly of Elm Mott, passed away Sunday, June 6, 1999, in West. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Church of Christ in Gerald, with the Rev. Jane Lovett officiating. Interment will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hoeldtke was born on Nov. 19, 1906, in McLennan County, the daughter of William and Katie Groppe. She married Ervin Oscar Hoeldtke on Nov. 26, 1931, in West. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1985. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She was also co-owner of Hoeldtke Grocery in Leroy for 25 years until she retired in 1965. Lydia loved gardening and was known or her German chocolate cake and fried chicken. She was a member of St. Paul's Women's Guild in Gerald. Lydia loved her church and often took care of the church grounds. She is survived by a son, Ervin W. Hoeldtke and wife, Irene of Valley Mills; two daughters, Helen Wolf and husband, Joe of West and Arlene Dieterich and husband, Charles of Robinson; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Church of Christ Building Fund or Gerald Cemetery Assoc. Aderhold, West.
