Lena Allen, age 94, formerly of Bowie, TX, passed away November 28, 2005 in Roswell, NM. Mrs. Allen was born June 24, 1911 in Bowie, TX. She married R.D. Allen on June 28, 1935 in Waurika, OK. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX and taught in public schools at Bird Hollow, Boren and Fruitland, TX. She worked for the National Forest Service for eleven years in Gallup, NM. Funeral services for Mrs. Lena were held Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Ann Miller, Medford, OR. Linda Shelton, Bowie, TX and Sharon Cosby, Roswell, NM; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Hulse, Gary, TX and Reeda Glisson, Castro Valley, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. D. Allen; her parent, Nannie Carver; one daughter, Neida Jordan, one grandson, Joel Allen Haviland and several sisters and brothers. Pallbearers included: Will Robertson, Mark Robertson, Alex Cosby, Jess Cosby, R.D.
